Singularity Academy launches Europe Asia Quarterly

Zurich, 30 September 2026 — Singularity Academy today published the first issue of Europe Asia Quarterly (ISSN 3043-2324), a new journal of record and analysis on the economic, business and policy ties between Europe and Asia. The journal is published online, four times a year, with SwissCham ASIA as collaborating partner.
Europe Asia Quarterly follows ASIA BRIEF, the monthly publication that Singularity Academy produced from September 2024 to June 2026 for Swiss–Asian business stakeholders. The new journal widens that focus to the whole Europe–Asia relationship and is written for business leaders, scholars, policymakers, and individuals and organisations who work between the two regions.
The first issue: "The terms are changing"
Vol. 1, No. 1 records and analyses developments across Europe and Asia from 1 July to 30 September 2026, on evidence published by 28 September. It reads the quarter under six lenses — politics and governance; diplomacy and security; technology and science; society and health; climate and energy; and business and economics — and sets out the second-quarter 2026 economic results for twelve European economies, including Switzerland, and for Asia, by region.
Its central finding is that the quarter does not show Europe and Asia separating. It shows governments changing the terms on which they remain connected: competing over security and technology, cooperating where interests meet, and staying linked through business and production.
Highlights of the issue include:
- Snapshot — Washington: two accounts, no joint text, on the state visit of 23–25 September
- Commentary — The Other AI Race: power, work and human control
- Commentary — Managed Rivalry Inside Continued Trade
- Commentary — Viet Nam's Growth Test: scale, spillovers and the middle-income trap
- A column by Farhat Ali on Asia and the Middle East, and the editor's closing words
A journal built on evidence
Every record in the journal rests on an identified source, with primary documents preferred; the first issue carries 144 numbered notes. A reported result, the journal's argument, its commentary and a signed opinion are kept in separate places, so that readers can see which is which.
"Europe and Asia need each other more than the headlines suggest," said Prof. Dr. Ying Zhang, Chief Editor. "Europe Asia Quarterly aims to give decision-makers in both regions a calm, documented account of what actually happened each quarter — and what it means for the choices they face."
Research and preparation are undertaken by the Research Group of Singularity Academy. Editorial responsibility rests with Singularity Academy.
How to read it
